Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago, Truman College campus, seeks a Dean of Career and Continuing Education Programs to lead and expand CTE, workforce development, and school-to-work initiatives. The role oversees staff, budgets, grants, and program innovation, with a focus on student success and pathways to employment.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree, teaching in higher education, experience with accreditation, and a strong commitment to diversity; Doctorate preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Doctorate preferred.
• Experience teaching in a higher education setting.
• Active participation or exposure to accreditation procedures and program review.
• Experience in activities that focus on assessment of student learning.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and multiculturalism in one’s work experience.
• Experience preferred working within a unionized setting.
• Demonstrated ability to create a learning environment that fosters student success.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a technologically integrated environment that fosters innovation within a learning organization.
• Experience in grant management such as Perkins, Workforce Investment Act (WIA), and other grant funds.
• Knowledge and experience in program review and evaluation (ICCB).

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and directs the strategic goals and objectives of Career and Continuing Education programs.
• Manages the department and staff, providing guidance for proper operation.
• Plans and develops an implementation of a comprehensive Continuing Education program with staff recruitment and supervision.
• Prepares and monitors annual department budgets; seeks additional revenue via grants and proposals.
• Writes proposals for federal, state and private funding and supervises grant reporting and budgets.
• Develops new courses, workshops and certificate programs based on data analysis and market trends.
• Ensures student access to course and career guidance and job placement opportunities.
• Provides leadership in assessing business needs for program initiatives and maintains industry contacts.
• Reviews enrollment data, communicates results, and prepares detailed reports; uses software for reports.
• Serves as weekend/evening administrator and liaison between the college and external entities.
