Job summary

Chime is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to guide a 4–5 engineer squad, stay hands-on, and shape the deals platform from discovery to redemption. You will mentor engineers, review code, and drive technical direction while partnering with Product, Design, Analytics.

You will lead architecture, ensure performance and reliability, and contribute to broader engineering initiatives. This role blends leadership with active coding and delivery.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of people management experience
• Hands-on coding ability and willingness to stay technical
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor)
• Strong technical foundation for architecture guidance and reviews
• Experience shipping consumer product features and running experiments
• Experience with service-oriented architectures and backend platforms at scale; familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React Native, AWS is a plus
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Analytics

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an engineering team, setting hiring bars and coaching staff
• Stay hands-on by coding and reviewing PRs
• Lead design reviews and maintainability through feedback
• Own technical direction for deals and offers surface and platform
• Set team objectives aligned with company priorities and drive execution
• Drive scalable, well-instrumented architecture and reliable ops
• Maintain quality, performance, and incident response culture
• Contribute to SSI and engineering initiatives as part of leadership
• Manage partner and merchant integrations to expand offer supply and improve measurement
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics to grow deal attach, claim, and redemption
