Job summary

Chime is seeking an engineering leader to guide one of the Cards squads within the Spending, Saving & Investing organization. You will manage 4–5 engineers, own end-to-end delivery, and code alongside the team while shaping technical direction and quality.

This TLM role requires hands-on coding, coaching, and strong collaboration with Product and Design. The base salary starts at $199,000 and can go up to $275,000 plus bonus and equity, with location-based adjustments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in people management responsibilities.
• Hands-on coding ability and desire to keep coding.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools with measurable impact.
• Experience coaching team members on execution, skills and progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Analytics.
• Ability to motivate teams to meet aggressive schedules.
• Experience with Ruby, React Native, Distributed Systems, AWS and SOA.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a squad of 4-5 engineers: Hiring, 1:1s, career coaching, performance management.
• Own delivery end to end from sprint planning to operational health.
• Write and ship code alongside the team, merging PRs to production.
• Be accountable for technical direction, architecture, and quality bar.
• Leverage AI coding agents to raise team leverage and establish durable practices.
• Partner with Product and Design on scope, prioritization, and quarterly planning.
• Act as cross-functional point of contact for tech capabilities and dependencies.
• Identify technical debt and advocate sustainable engineering.
• Ensure quality, performance, and on-call health.
• Build growth paths for engineers toward higher IC levels or TLM roles.
• Contribute to SSI and Chime engineering initiatives as part of leadership.
