Job summary

Chime is seeking an engineering leader to guide a Trust & Safety squad. You will manage a 4-5 engineer team, own end-to-end delivery from planning to production, and write code alongside your team.

You will set technical direction, drive quality, and coach engineers while using AI tools to raise team impact. You will collaborate with Product and Design on scope and priorities, while fostering a healthy on-call culture and sustainable engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in people management responsibilities.
• Current, hands-on coding ability and the desire to keep it.
• Track record of using AI-assisted development tools and driving adoption.
• Experience coaching team members on project execution and career progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Analytics.
• Ability to motivate a team through aggressive delivery schedules.
• Experience with Ruby, React Native, Distributed Systems, AWS services and SOA.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a squad of 4-5 engineers: hiring, 1:1s, career coaching, and performance management.
• Own end-to-end delivery for the squad from planning through service SLAs and health.
• Write and ship code alongside the team, via PRs to production.
• Own the squad's technical direction, architecture, and quality bar.
• Leverage AI tooling to raise team leverage and establish durable practices.
• Partner with Product and Design on scope, prioritization, and quarterly planning.
• Coordinate cross-functional technical capabilities and dependency discussions.
• Identify tech debt and advocate for sustainable engineering.
• Ensure quality, performance, and operational health including on-call culture.
• Build growth paths for engineers toward higher IC levels or TLM roles.
• Contribute to broader Trust & Safety and Chime initiatives as engineering leadership.
