Job summary

Chime is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Deals & Offers team. You will lead a growing group of engineers, stay hands-on, and drive the technical direction of the deals platform. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and Analytics to grow deal discovery, redemption, and measurement across scalable systems.

The role emphasizes shipping consumer features, operating at scale, and mentoring engineers while maintaining a high bar for code quality and delivery speed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of people management experience, including hiring and developing engineers.
• Current, hands-on coding ability and the desire to stay technical; you are excited to contribute code and review PRs.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) to raise leverage.
• Experience shipping consumer product features and running experiments with measurable impact.
• Experience with service-oriented architectures and backend platforms at scale; familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React Native, AWS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing engineering team and grow engineers’ impact.
• Stay hands-on: write and ship code on high-leverage projects while mentoring your team.
• Review PRs and lead design reviews to improve quality, testing, and maintainability.
• Own the technical direction for the deals and offers surface and platform powering them.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics to grow deal attach, claim, and redemption.
• Establish objectives aligned with priorities and set a high bar for execution.
• Drive architecture and decisions to keep the platform reliable and scalable as volume grows.
• Manage partner and merchant integrations and collaborate with external vendors.
• Ensure quality, performance, and on-call health, contributing to SSI and engineering initiatives.
• Contribute as a member of the engineering leadership team.
