Job summary

Chime is seeking an engineering leader to guide a Spending, Saving & Investing squad, managing 4-5 engineers, hiring, coaching, and delivering end-to-end features with hands-on coding contributions.

You will own the squad's technical direction, use AI tooling to boost productivity, partner with Product and Design, and drive sustainable engineering while helping engineers advance to higher IC levels or future TLM roles, contributing to SSI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in people management responsibilities.
• Hands-on coding ability and desire to continue coding today.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery.
• Experience coaching team members on project execution and career progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Analytics.
• Interest in pushing technology and organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a squad of 4-5 engineers: hiring, 1:1s, coaching, performance.
• Own end-to-end delivery for the squad, from planning to production.
• Write and ship code alongside the team, reviewing PRs.
• Set the squad's technical direction, architecture, and quality bar.
• Use AI tooling to raise team leverage and establish durable practices.
• Partner with Product and Design on scope and quarterly planning.
• Coordinate dependencies and act as cross-functional tech lead when needed.
• Identify technical debt and advocate for sustainable engineering.
• Ensure quality, performance, and on-call/incident health.
• Grow engineers toward higher IC levels or future TLM roles.
