Job summary

Chime is seeking an engineering leader to build and scale the Deals & Offers platform in San Francisco. You will lead a growing team while staying hands-on, coding on high-impact projects and shaping architecture.

You’ll mentor engineers, review designs, and partner with Product, Design, and Analytics to optimize deal attachment and redemption, turning experiments into durable member value.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of people management including hiring and developing engineers.
• Hands-on coding ability and willingness to contribute code and review PRs.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools to increase team velocity.
• Strong foundation to guide architecture and review technical decisions.
• Experience shipping consumer features and running experiments.
• Experience with service-oriented architectures and backend platforms at scale; stack familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing engineering team and grow engineers’ impact.
• Stay hands-on: write and ship code on high-leverage projects and set the technical bar.
• Review pull requests and lead design reviews to improve quality and maintainability.
• Own the technical direction for the deals and offers surface and platform.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics to grow deal attach, claim, and redemption; turn experiments into value.
• Set team objectives aligned with company priorities and maintain execution discipline.
• Drive architecture and decisions to keep the platform reliable and scalable.
• Manage partner and merchant integrations with external vendors.
• Ensure quality, performance, and incident-response readiness.
• Contribute to SSI and Chime engineering initiatives as part of leadership.
