Job summary

GreenMark Equipment is seeking a detail-oriented Service Writer to support our service department in Indiana. You will answer customer inquiries, open and manage work orders, and keep customers updated on repair progress.

The role requires strong communication, basic accounting familiarity, and teamwork in a busy dealership environment; we offer health insurance, 401k with company match, paid holidays and more.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a service department or customer-facing role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Experience with basic accounting and computer functions.

Responsibilities

• Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
• Opens work orders and maintains control until closed and invoiced.
• Maintains service department filings and records and service library with current information.
• Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the work order.
• Maintains service accessories and supplies and prepares replacement orders.
• May process warranty and/or product improvement claims.

Answers customer inquiries about service work and generates repair quotes. Prepares and manages work orders to ensure technicians have work in front of them.ResponsibilitiesFields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service DepartmentOpens work orders as directed by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman and maintains control until they are closed and invoicedMaintains service department filings and records and service library with current information (for example, files bulletins, manuals, multi-media, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Service ManagerUpdates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orderMaintains service accessories and supplies and prepares replacement ordersMay prepare Service Technician labor performance, productivity, and efficiency reportsMay process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission and follow-upMay participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledgeMaintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashionFollows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignmentsMaintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive productsExperience, Education, Skills and KnowledgeExperience working in a service departmentExperience with basic accounting practicesExperience with basic computer functionsExperience working cooperatively in a team environmentExperience communicating effectivelyHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
