Job summary

Jobot is seeking a HVAC Controls Design Engineer to join our Building Automation team in the Washington, DC metro area. This office-based role focuses on designing innovative BAS solutions for commercial and institutional projects.

You will translate project requirements into complete BAS designs, collaborating with project managers, programmers, and field teams to deliver from concept through installation. The role requires BAS/HVAC design experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Electronics, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing Building Automation or HVAC Controls systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, control sequences, and mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of BACnet and other building automation protocols.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specs and construction docs.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design complete Building Automation System (BAS) solutions for HVAC controls projects.
• Create control drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, points lists, valve and damper schedules, and bill of materials.
• Develop and refine sequences of operation for mechanical systems and controls programming.
• Design BAS network architecture utilizing BACnet and other protocols.
• Review project plans and specs to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Prepare submittals and engineering docs for customer approval.
• Generate and track RFIs and support revisions and changes.
• Support project managers, programmers, and field personnel during installation and commissioning.
• Attend occasional site visits to verify field conditions and support startup.
• Maintain organized project documentation.
