Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Design Engineer for Building Automation and HVAC Controls Optimization in Washington, DC. You will own BAS retrofit projects from site surveys through commissioning, with a hybrid work schedule and generous health benefits.

You will develop control sequences, prepare complete RFP packages, review drawings, and train operators while driving post-commissioning energy savings in collaboration with an experienced team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years engineering background within BAS/energy space.
• Understanding of controls design and documentation.
• Ability to read and mark up mechanical and controls drawings.
• Practical problem-solving mindset to improve existing systems.
• Strong communication and coordination with clients, contractors, and teams.
• Interest in continuing to grow technically and take on greater ownership.

Responsibilities

• Turn existing buildings into better-performing systems through site surveys and scope definition for DDC and BAS upgrades.
• Build the controls roadmap by developing complete RFP packages with drawings, specs, and documentation.
• Define operation sequences based on system conditions and project goals.
• Develop commissioning scripts and manage the commissioning process with contractors.
• Review submittals and drawings, resolve field issues, and close punch-list items.
• Train facilities personnel on upgraded controls and building systems after turnover.
• Lead post-commissioning optimization to verify energy savings.
