Job summary

Preble Street in Portland, ME seeks a Caseworker for the Recuperative Care Program. This full-time role supports recovering clients by providing direct services, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring staff coverage within a 24/7 trauma-informed facility.

The position offers a daytime shift (Sunday–Thursday, 7:00am–3:30pm) with a $23.82/hour rate plus a $1.00 shift differential for hours 7:00–10:00pm, plus full benefits including health, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD, a 403(b) plan, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, with experience serving homeless populations.
• Positive regard for individuals accessing homelessness services.
• Commitment to low-barrier services.
• Strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills.
• Familiarity with community resources.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to document services.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain professional boundaries.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to clients and maintain a safe environment in a 24/7 program.
• Ensure staff coverage within the Recuperative Care Program Team.
• Perform comprehensive case management and coordinate with medical/behavioral health care teams.
