Job summary

Yay Lunch, LLC is seeking a Prep Cook to support a fast-paced kitchen environment. You will perform mise en place, label and stage items, and assist with packing deliveries while maintaining cleanliness. The role reports to the Kitchen Manager and Lead Cook, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Ideal candidates have kitchen or food production experience, strong attention to detail, and a proactive mindset. 30 hours weekly, with a schedule from 9am to 3pm on-site in New Jersey.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or food production environment.
• Strong attention to labeling, staging, and portioning accuracy.
• Reliable and self-directed; initiative to handle tasks without prompting.
• Team player with ownership of their station.
• Delivery readiness with valid driver's license if applicable.
• Food handler's certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Handle mise en place for the Lead Cook with washing, chopping, weighing, and portioning ingredients.
• Keep the Lead Cook's station clean and organized between production runs.
• Label every item with name, date, quantity, and use-by date; stage items by order.
• Pack and load orders for delivery, ensuring correct quantities and temperatures.
• Clean as you go and participate in end-of-shift kitchen breakdown.
