Job summary

The Yay Company is seeking a Prep Cook to keep the kitchen stocked and production moving in a fast-paced commercial kitchen. You will support the Lead Cook with mise en place, handle labeling and staging of finished product, and assist with packing orders for delivery.

Day-to-day duties include labeling, staging by order, and maintaining safe temperatures when delivering. The role runs from 9am to 3pm (30 hours/week) with strong growth opportunities as we expand into new markets.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or food production environment.
• Strong attention to labeling, staging, and portioning accuracy.
• Reliable and self-directed with ownership of your station.

Responsibilities

• Handle mise en place for the Lead Cook by washing, chopping, weighing, and portioning ingredients as needed.
• Keep the Lead Cook's station clean and organized between production runs.
• Anticipate needs and prepare items in advance to avoid production stoppages.
• Label every item with name, date, quantity, and use-by date.
