Job summary

Central Virginia Community College is seeking a part-time Daytime User Support Tech to assist with routine IT support, hardware repairs, software upgrades, and AV setup. The role involves documenting procedures and collaborating with IT staff on various projects.

The candidate should have an AAS in Computer Information Systems or related field and experience with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office. The position is 29 hours per week, not to exceed 1450 hours annually, located in Lynchburg, VA.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of installation, planning, repair and maintenance of computers, associated peripheral equipment, and desktop software programs including Microsoft Office, and audio/visual equipment.
• Familiarity with local area networks.
• Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting methods and procedures, equipment testing, and use of diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide user assistance and support for computer software, hardware repair, maintenance, and audio/visual equipment.
• Develop documentation including user tips and instructions, and procedures to streamline tasks for IT staff.
• Document problem resolution/status and forward complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Install computers and peripherals and perform routine software upgrades.
• Coordinate and assist IT projects and tasks, including lab reloads, hardware upgrades, and audio/visual setup.
