Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Augusta is seeking a Registered Nurse for Day Surgery to join our operating room team. This PRN opportunity offers self/schedule four weeks in advance for predictability and a collaborative working environment to support safe perioperative care.

You will evaluate patients prior to surgery, provide education to patients and families, assist with preoperative care, and participate in universal protocols to maintain high-quality care in a fast-paced OR setting.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
• RN license (RN) is required.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assist with patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies; deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team in the operating room.
