Job summary

The Howard County Public School System invites applications for a working supervisory Custodian, Day Lead I at Gorman Crossing Elementary. The role oversees custodial staff, maintains cleanliness of the facility, and coordinates daily operations under supervision. Requires one year as a custodian and a high school diploma or GED.

Training in safety and building systems is expected. Work hours are full-time with a 8.5-hour day; some emergency calls and after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; education completed outside the United States must be evaluated.
• One year of experience as a custodian is required; school-system experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise custodial staff and coordinate daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise custodians; coordinate routine building and grounds maintenance.
• Inspect building security and cleanliness; train staff on procedures.
• Perform cleaning, floor and window maintenance; assist in cafeteria tasks.
