Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude for maintenance tasks.
• Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• At least 1 year in commercial cleaning/building maintenance.
• At least 1 year supervising others or 3 years as WCPS custodian.
• Knowledge of tools/equipment for basic maintenance and furniture assembly.
• Ability to use computer systems for ordering supplies, work orders, and email.
• Willingness to participate in in-service training programs.
• Regular and predictable attendance essential.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise custodial staff under supervision of a Custodial Engineer II.
• Maintain the physical plant of a large high school.
• Perform interior cleaning with hand and machine tools.
• Develop knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems.
• Assist with emergency lighting, fire protection and security systems.
• Oversee grounds-keeping including snow removal.
• Make minor repairs to equipment/buildings.
• Perform monthly safety checks of the facility.
• Order supplies and manage inventory.
• Operate all types of mechanical equipment.
