Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical Step-Down Unit on a full-time, day-shift with rotating weekends. The role requires completion of an approved nursing program, English proficiency, and at least 1 year of RN experience; Texas RN license with BLS and ACLS are required.

BSN is preferred, with opportunities for growth and advancement. The unit emphasizes teamwork, adherence to nursing standards, patient safety, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program; English literacy required.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• 1 year of RN experience.
• Texas RN license (NLC) or equivalent; BLS certification; ACLS certification.
• BSN is preferred; professional nursing certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments.
• Develop and monitor an appropriate plan of care with the team.
• Prioritize interventions based on patient needs and changes in condition.
• Provide education to patients and families and document it promptly.
• Adhere to unit standards and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
