Job summary

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical Step-Down Unit. This PRN PER DIEM night shift role provides nursing care under physician and nursing leadership, focusing on assessments and care planning for diverse adult patients.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of RN experience, is licensed in Texas, and holds a BLS certification with ACLS. BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program; must read, write and communicate in English.
• 1 year of RN experience; specialty areas may require more experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document physical, psychosocial, and emotional patient assessments.
• Develop and update care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Prioritize nursing interventions based on assessment and changes in patient condition.
• Document care interventions promptly and accurately.
• Provide patient and family education and discharge planning.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards.
