Job summary

Indiana University Health, Inc. in Indiana is seeking a Full-Time Day shift team member who provides a blend of direct patient care and unit clerical duties within the department.

Under the direction of a Clinical Nurse, you will care for designated patients, support the patient care team, maintain a clean environment, and guide physicians, patients, families and vendors. You may schedule tests, maintain records, sign patients in and out, and handle equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Requires prior comparable acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care for designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Performs unit clerical duties and supports the patient care team.
• Maintains a clean and orderly patient environment.
• Provides information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures for the patient.
• Maintains patient records and signs patients in and out of the unit.
• May be responsible for ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
