Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Full-Time Day Unit Secretary who provides a blend of direct patient care and essential clerical support within the department. Under direction of a Clinical Nurse, you will assist with patient care, ensure a clean environment, and aid the care team with scheduling, records, and admissions/logistics.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPR/BLS certification, and successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.

Qualifications

• Previous acute patient care experience or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or completion of IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of patient care procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of a Clinical Nurse.
• Perform unit clerical duties and assist patient care team.
• Schedule tests and procedures when needed and maintain patient records.
• Sign patients in and out of the unit and help with equipment logistics.
• Assist with infection control practices and maintain a clean environment.
