Job summary

Indiana University Health, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Night Unit Secretary / Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and essential unit clerical support under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse.

Responsibilities include scheduling tests, updating patient records, signing in/out patients, maintaining a clean unit, and assisting physicians, families, and vendors. Night shifts and potential on-call requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required. CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Requires previous comparable acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or IU Health PCA program completion.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Performs unit clerical duties and supports the patient care team.
• Maintains clean, orderly patient environment and provides information to physicians, families, and vendors.
• May schedule tests, maintain patient records, and sign patients in and out of the unit.
• May be responsible for equipment and supplies delivery and continuous observation including suicide prevention.
