Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Full-Time Day position that blends direct patient care with unit clerical duties. The successful candidate will support the patient care team under the direction of a Clinical Nurse, help maintain a clean and orderly environment, and provide information, directions and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.

May schedule tests and procedures, maintain patient records, sign patients in and out, assist with equipment and supplies,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Requires previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or IU Health PCA program.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires knowledge of infection control principles.
• Requires basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Perform unit clerical duties for the department.
• Maintain a clean and orderly patient environment.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures and maintain patient records.
• Sign patients in and out of the unit and assist with equipment and supplies.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
