Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Patient Access Representative to manage patient registration in the Emergency Department. You will verify identity, select records, register for services, scan insurance cards and IDs, and enter demographics in the EHR.

You will explain and obtain regulatory documents, collect co-pays and deposits, greet patients, and coordinate arrival to the correct service area.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry
• HS grad or equivalent required
• Proficiency in Keyboarding

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record
• Register the patient for the appropriate service by reviewing schedules and orders
• Scan and verify insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, and POAs
• Enter patient demographic and insurance information in the EHR
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and outstanding balances
• Greet patients and families and provide first impression of Sentara
• Perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties as needed
