Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Illinois is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Med/Surg Oncology unit on day shifts. Under RN supervision, you perform basic patient care activities, monitor vitals, support daily living tasks, and help maintain a clean, orderly unit.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, CNA/CMA/EMT certification or nursing student with clinicals, and BLS. Phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Monitors vital signs and records intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Prioritizes unit tasks and adapts to changing conditions.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers telephone, intercom, and call lights, communicating with staff, family, or patient.
• Manages overall unit workflow with charge RN or assistant manager as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge, and census lists when required.
