Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Tech for Medical-Surgical Oncology Nights. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week at 0.9 FTE, with an hourly wage range of $18.33 to $24.75. The PCT supports RNs with basic nursing care, vital signs, and activities of daily living in a fast-paced oncology unit.

Required: HS diploma or equivalent, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester of clinical, and BLS. Preferred: CNA program graduate or phlebotomy training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Preferred: graduate of a Nursing Assistant program or phlebotomy course.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities under RN supervision, including monitoring vital signs and glucose.
• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating) for patients.
• Reports changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms and unit workflow.
• Acts as liaison between units and departments and handles communication with staff/families.
• Answers calls, intercoms, and provides information to appropriate staff.
• Supports RN/charge nurse in census/ admissions processes as needed.
• Ensures proper daily census and discharge/inpatient lists when required.
