Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of medical clerical experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with payor contract terms.
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and computerized scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate case times for elective, urgent or emergent surgeries in a computerized scheduling system.
• Acquire authorization numbers, History and Physicals, results of laboratory tests and verify current status.
• Type and print physician orders; schedule block time and releases.
• Enter physician orders for labs, imaging, and cardiology; record charges and compile reports.
• Conduct charge management audits and correct discrepancies.
• Greet and direct patients and families; liaise between staff and physicians; assist with questions.
• Schedule surgeries and maintain a smooth workflow with minimal supervision.
