Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Laboratory Technician for night shifts to perform routine and complex clinical laboratory tests. Qualifications

• Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• MLT (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Minimum one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Ability to endure heavy workload and stress.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab tests across major areas per CLIA levels of complexity.
• Assess specimen acceptability and maintain integrity through testing.
• Set up and maintain laboratory equipment; document maintenance.
• Operate instruments to ensure accurate patient results.
• Calibrate instruments as required and maintain quality control.
• Notify supervisor of unusual or critical results per policy.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and participate in inspections.
