Job summary

The Association for Individual Development is seeking a Direct Support Professional – 24HC – Program Support for Elgin, IL. Responsibilities include assisting clients with daily living, following individualized plans, and coordinating with staff to ensure safety and dignity.

Positions are full-time, first shift, with hours between 7a-6p. Requires High School diploma or GED and experience with disabilities; training and license requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year experience with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Three years’ DSP experience preferred.
• CNA or Autism certificate desired.
• Must lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Pass S-TOFHLA literacy test.
• Complete DSP and Medication Administration Training including CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, OIG Rule 50 and CPI.
• Must have valid Illinois driver’s license and transport clients when needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a team approach with clients, staff, and outside agencies.
• Implement programs from the Individual Plan and document per procedures.
• Follow agency rules and report concerns to supervisor.
• Prepare meals per dietitian menus with client input.
• Provide self-care assistance including toileting, bathing and grooming.
• Assist with medication administration at locations and maintain authorization.
• Ensure safe conditions; conduct housekeeping and safety drills.
• Transport clients in personal or agency vehicles for activities.
• Attend meetings, shifts, trainings, and assist with staff orientation.
• Lead planning for community and in-house activities.
