Job summary

Association for Individual Development is seeking an entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the Elgin, IL area. The DSP will implement client strategies, document services, and ensure rights, dignity, and safety for individuals with disabilities.

The role includes daily activities, behavior management, and collaboration across sites as needed. Responsibilities include meal support, personal care assistance, medication oversight at one location, and transport for clients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA or Autism Certificate desired.
• Experience working with developmentally disabled adults preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a team approach with clients, staff, and outside agencies.
• Implement programs from the Individual Plan and document per procedures.
• Follow agency rules and report concerns to supervisor.
• Assist with meals per dietician plans and client input.
• Attend to self-care needs including toileting, grooming, and bathing.
• Provide transportation for clients as needed.
• Ensure safety inside and outside the home and assist with environment upkeep.
• Maintain clean, sanitary environments and proper documentation.
• Respond to emergencies following policies and procedures.
• Attend meetings, shifts, and trainings, as scheduled.
• Participate in community and in-house activities and client meetings.
