Job summary

Paine College is seeking a Database Manager to oversee the design, performance, integrity, and security of the organization’s databases. The role spans on-premises and cloud environments to support analytics, reporting, and BI initiatives.

The position requires leadership in governance, strategy, and philosophy of data management, with collaboration across IT and business units. Flexible hours may be required to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in database administration or management.
• Experience with backup/recovery, replication, and high availability solutions.
• Experience with cloud database environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all organizational databases (on-premises and cloud).
• Lead database design, implementation, and optimization efforts.
• Ensure data security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor database performance and tune systems for efficiency and scalability.
• Establish and enforce data governance, standards, and policies.
• Oversee database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
• Provide on-call support as needed.
• Collaborate with IT leadership to align database strategy with business goals.
• Participate in ITS planning functions.
• Support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives.
