Job summary

Standard Metrics seeks a Data Solutions Engineer to own customer-facing data workflows, integrations, and AI-driven automation. You’ll partner with clients to diagnose needs, architect solutions across APIs, SQL, data pipelines, and AI tooling, and deliver impactful results as a technical extension of our customer success teams.

This role blends engineering depth with customer communication, and you’ll help define what technical services look like for our product.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in a technical role with a customer-facing component
• Strong SQL skills and ability to write complex queries
• Proficiency in Python for scripting and workflow automation
• Experience with REST APIs: designing, consuming, and debugging integrations
• Genuine curiosity about AI and prompt engineering or LLM workflows
• Willingness to travel up to 60% to work on-site with customers
• Familiarity with modern data infrastructure (Snowflake, dbt)
• Strong communication to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in B2B SaaS, ideally fintech or private markets
• High ownership mentality and ability to work in ambiguity
• Bonus: experience with data integration tools (Zapier, n8n, Make)
• Finance and/or Computer Science degree strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers to identify data challenges and design technical solutions
• Deploy and optimize AI-powered tools and workflows for customers
• Educate customers and teams on prompt engineering and AI best practices
• Build and extend internal tooling to reduce manual work and improve reliability
• Execute bespoke data operations including custom SQL reports and backend queries
• Own API schemas, ingestion cadence, error handling, and data connections
• Support engineering by triaging bugs and improving customer-facing workflows
• Carry a light data parsing book to stay grounded in daily workflows
