Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to lead internal AI capability development and later client-facing AI delivery within HDR’s Transportation Business Group.

You will build scalable AI components, data pipelines, and end-to-end solutions while identifying bottlenecks and driving informed improvements. The role emphasizes collaboration with IT and stakeholders, plus the evolution toward repeatable AI services and offerings, with a focus on impactful transportation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field required.
• Experience with generative AI and modern AI services.
• Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP) including data pipelines and production model deployment.
• 3+ years in data engineering / data science roles.
• Proven ability to manage end-to-end data science projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Consulting or professional services background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions to internal transportation business needs.
• Build reusable data pipelines and AI components for scalable client delivery.
• Manage full model lifecycle including deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Identify data, integration, governance, and tooling bottlenecks and advise improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and communicate complex AI concepts clearly.
