Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement within its Transportation Business Group. This high-impact role focuses on building internal AI capabilities, data foundations, and scalable solutions to empower HDR to innovate across mobility projects.

In early phases, you will develop AI solutions internally; later, you may deliver client-facing AI work and advisory services. A degree plus 3+ years in data engineering and AI, cloud experience, and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• A degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience.
• 3+ years experience with SQL, Power Query, and Pandas.
• 3+ years experience with Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
• 3+ years experience with Python and R.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with multitasking ability.
• Proficiency with MS Office and strong writing/communication skills.
• Advanced degree is preferred; consulting or professional services experience is a plus.
• Experience designing/improving data pipelines and AI infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Internal AI capability development and building reusable AI components.
• Develop data pipelines, workflows, and scalable compute for AI projects.
• Manage full model lifecycle: development, deployment, monitoring, retraining, inference.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to identify bottlenecks and improvements.
• Translate problems into structured AI solutions and communicate concepts clearly.
• Support future client pursuits and pilot projects with internal AI capabilities.
