Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners is seeking a Data Protection Engineer for a hybrid role in Palo Alto, CA (or Irvine, CA). The contract is 6+ months, with a Mon-Fri 8a–5p schedule and three onsite days per week (Mon/Wed/Fri).

You will implement and manage DLP policies, tooling, and data discovery, collaborate with IT, Privacy, Legal and Cybersecurity teams, and ensure compliance with Rivian’s data security policies. Optimize tooling via APIs and scripting to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing and managing DLP tools in corporate environments.
• Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, Bash) to automate data protection operations.
• Proven ability to integrate security tools using RESTful APIs and customize workflows for scalable tactical data protection.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git) for secure deployments.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain data protection tools ensuring optimal configuration and performance.
• Develop and manage policies for data loss prevention (DLP) and detection across systems.
• Monitor and respond to incidents related to data protection, providing break glass support.
• Integrate data protection tools with other security platforms using APIs and orchestration frameworks.
• Conduct regular assessments of data protection controls to align with threats and goals.
• Conduct data discovery and classification to protect sensitive information.
• Support context-aware access controls and ensure compliance with Rivian’s data security policies.
• Collaborate with IT, Privacy, Legal and Cybersecurity teams to align data protection measures.
