Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a Data Operations Support Lead to steer the CMM Data Modernization and Governance team, delivering integrated data governance, engineering, data platform, reporting, analytics, and AI/ML capabilities to support AO's data objectives.

The role guides daily health of data pipelines, platforms, and governance, balancing hands-on operations with leadership while interfacing with governance stakeholders and business users.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT management experience with data governance and modernization focus.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• PMP certification is required for Program Manager role.
• Experience with big data cloud solution architecture, cybersecurity, data management, BI/analytics.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contract liaison, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Lead daily operations for CMM data platforms, pipelines, integrations, analytics environments, and data products.
• Establish and manage monitoring, incident response, problem management, service requests, maintenance, and releases.
• Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, and pipeline health against SLAs; perform root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate production support across cloud, data engineering, application, BI/analytics, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams.
• Maintain runbooks, knowledge articles, escalation paths, and system documentation.
• Manage RAID logs and perform risk identification, communication, and mitigation.
• Oversee ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, CDC processes, data lakes and warehouses; address data quality issues.
• Support cloud data platforms in AWS; coordinate upgrades and environment management.
• Support capacity planning, performance tuning, resilience, backup/recovery, and DR activities.
• Partner with Data Governance/Data Engineering to operationalize data quality, metadata, lineage, and stewardship.
• Monitor and remediate data quality exceptions, operational risks, and audit findings.
• Promote automation for monitoring, deployments, testing, incident response, and reporting; support CI/CD, IaC, observability, and SRE.
• Build dashboards and metrics for availability, performance, and incident trends; identify improvements.
• Lead incident management for high-priority issues and post-incident reviews.
• Support change and release management; assess operational impacts of changes.
• Lead Data Operations personnel; mentor team members on operational best practices.
• Continuously improve the CMM Data Operations operating model and provide transparent reporting.
• Provide COR and government leadership with analysis, research, options, and solution design recommendations.
