Job summary

Integrated Data Services (IDS) is seeking a Data Engineer to build scalable pipelines, APIs, and data products from diverse defense and federal systems to support Navy transformation efforts.

This is hands‑on engineering; you will own production pipelines, write code, and help establish reusable patterns for ingestion and delivery in an IL‑4/5 environment, with remote work and periodic travel to government facilities in the National Capital Region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, software engineering, information systems, mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Five or more years of relevant experience required.
• Experience in lieu of education may be considered with seven or more years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production data pipelines in SQL, PL/SQL, Java, and Python.
• Integrate and transform acquisition and financial datasets into reusable data products.
• Develop data models and analytics datasets for enterprise reporting and decision making.
• Build and maintain REST API integrations for data exchange.
• Migrate data from legacy systems.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune scheduled workflows for performance, reliability, and scale.
• Implement data validation, lineage, and governance practices.
• Contribute to automated testing, code reviews, documentation, and reusable engineering patterns.
• Shape physical database design for performance, scaling, security, backup, and disaster recovery.
