Job summary

Mission First Housing Group is seeking an Asset Manager to support the financial, physical, and operational performance of its affordable housing portfolio in Washington, DC. The role reports to the Director of Asset Management and focuses on occupancy, budgeting, and NOI across properties.

The candidate will monitor performance, analyze cash flow and variances, and ensure compliance with affordable housing programs while collaborating with property management and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Two to four years of experience in asset management, real estate finance, property operations, compliance, or financial analysis.
• Experience with affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, Section 8 HAP, HOME, or USDA, and with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations, preferred.
• Strong financial analysis skills and advanced proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the financial and operational performance of assigned properties, including occupancy, collections, delinquency, and expense trends.
• Review monthly financial statements, operating reports, and rent rolls; perform variance and forecasting analyses.
• Assist with annual operating and capital budgets and reserve analyses.
• Support compliance monitoring for LIHTC, Section 8 HAP, HOME, and USDA in coordination with the Compliance team.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc portfolio reports for leadership.
• Collaborate with property management to support occupancy, revenue, and expense controls.
• Build trackers and dashboards consolidating portfolio data; use AI tools to summarize documents and improve reporting.
