Job summary

CDC Data Centres in Auckland, NZ, is seeking a Construction Manager to lead a major data centre build, delivering on time and within budget. You will oversee delivery for Silverdale and Hobsonville campuses, coordinating with the nominated PCBU and subcontractors to ensure safe, high‑quality builds.

You will manage multi‑discipline interfaces, contracts, and procurement, mentor junior staff, and engage with suppliers to optimise delivery. NZ Security Clearance or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing large-scale building projects, preferably data centres or critical infrastructure.
• Proven leadership and communication skills with cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and quality control in construction.
• NZ citizen or permanent resident with ability to obtain NZ Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee flow of technical information between engineering disciplines and stakeholders in construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
• Manage construction contracts, including due diligence and compliance for third‑party agreements, on behalf of CDC.
• Report to the Head of Construction on project progress, forecasting, budget control, procurement, and schedule updates.
• Ensure end‑to‑end oversight of assigned construction projects, focusing on value management, safety, structural adequacy, and verification of contracted works.
• Identify opportunities to optimise delivery, timelines, or innovation and liaise with consultants as needed.
• Conduct meetings and maintain regular communication with key stakeholders, including CDC Service Managers and Engineers, from design through to handover.
• Build strong partnerships with suppliers and vendors while collaborating with peers to enhance the function’s capability within CDC.
• Contribute to the growth of the CDC team, providing leadership, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a positive culture.
• Act as an ambassador for the company, leading and participating in team and stakeholder meetings to ensure effective engagement and communication.
