Job summary

Equinix seeks an experienced Technical Operations Technician III to independently perform complex customer and infrastructure work in our Chicago data centers. You will execute installations, troubleshoot circuits, and support fiber and copper infrastructure while following safety and SLA commitments.

The role requires hands‑on data center experience, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and strong documentation skills. Shift work and on‑call rotations support 24x7 operations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated hands‑on experience in a data center or mission‑critical environment.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently on complex tasks.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and performing physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform installation, de‑installation, and modification of customer equipment, cabinets, and infrastructure.
• Execute racking and stacking of servers, network devices, and cabinets to Equinix standards.
• Install, test, and troubleshoot complex cabling and circuit infrastructure, including fiber, twisted‑pair copper, and coax.
• Troubleshoot service and infrastructure issues; coordinate and elevate to Networking or Engineering teams when required.
• Manage assigned work independently through a ticketing system, ensuring prioritization, SLA adherence, and accurate time tracking.
• Partner directly with customers to resolve technical issues and ensure a high‑quality service experience.
