Backblaze in Reston, Virginia is seeking a Data Center Technician to manage and optimize the physical infrastructure of its data center operations, including server hardware, networking gear, power and cooling systems.

Qualifications

• Experience with server hardware and data center equipment.
• On-site, on-call shifts may be required.
• Willingness to work weekends or rotating shifts.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Hardware Deployment & Maintenance: rack equipment, replace drives, replace components.
• Data Center Operations: act as physical presence, on-call within an hour, occasional trips, documentation, clean workspace.
• Project Management: execute infrastructure projects, coordinate with IT/Neteng/NOC/SRE, drive automation.
• Respond to incidents and Jira tickets; troubleshoot hardware, power, and network.
• Participate in on-call rotation for incident response.
