Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Data Center Technician I to join our Chandler, AZ team. You will manage, maintain, and optimize the physical infrastructure of our data center operations, with hands-on work on server hardware, networking gear, power and cooling, and structured cabling.

The role requires proactive problem-solving, ownership, and collaboration with IT, NOC, and SRE teams. Expect on-call duties, occasional travel within the area, and shift flexibility to support 24x7 operations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in data center or server infrastructure roles.
• Hands-on knowledge of server hardware and deployments.
• Proficient with structured cabling, fiber optics, and patch panel management.
• Experience with operating systems (Linux and basic scripting).

Responsibilities

• Maintain hardware deployment and maintenance, including rack equipment and hard drives.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective equipment with minimal supervision.
• Manage onsite inventory of spare parts and perform RMA as needed.
• Set up, test and activate new equipment via the Linux command line.
