Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Data Center Technician I to manage, maintain, and optimize the physical infrastructure of our data centers in Chandler, AZ. The role requires hands-on hardware knowledge, on-call readiness, and collaboration with IT and NOC teams to ensure uptime and efficiency.

Ideal candidates will have strong problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and a commitment to operational excellence. Relocation is not offered; on-site attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Hardware deployment and maintenance duties.
• Data center operations and on-call rotation.
• Project management for infrastructure deployments.
• Collaboration with IT, Neteng, NOC and SRE teams.
• Follow data center best practices and maintain a clean workspace.

Responsibilities

• Maintain racking equipment, replace hard drives and other system components.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective equipment with minimal supervision.
• Help manage onsite inventory of hard drives, cables, rails and spare parts.
• RMA defective components; setup, test and activate new equipment via Linux CLI.
• Work as Backblaze’s physical presence in Data Center Operations; participate in on-call rotation and occasional onsite trips.
• Follow and improve data center best practices and documentation; keep workspace organized.
