Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Data Center Technician to support 24/7 data center operations. You will install equipment, perform hardware repairs, and troubleshoot networking issues to keep AWS infrastructure running smoothly.

You will work with engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors, with on-call duties and scheduled maintenance. Travel between data centers is required, and relocation assistance may be provided.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
• 1+ years of computer networking experience.
• High school or equivalent diploma.
• Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• An Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering, etc.)
• Experience working in a Data Center environment.
• Understanding of network design, protocols and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
• Understanding of in-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe)

Responsibilities

• Performing server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, and responding to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required
• Serving as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
• Performing on-call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
• Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on your analysis of operational issues
• Helping to train and onboard new team members
