Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Data Center Technician to perform server rack installations, hardware repairs, and network troubleshooting to keep our data centers running at peak performance. You will respond to incidents, support on-call rotations, and collaborate with engineers across teams.

You will travel between data center sites as needed, train new colleagues, and contribute to documentation and process improvements while upholding safety and security standards.

Qualifications

• 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
• 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair).
• Experience in a data center or other critical environment (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g. computer science, network engineering).
• Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
• Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.
• Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
• Experience training and onboarding of new team members.

Responsibilities

• Performing server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, responding to operational incidents that impact service availability, and carrying out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services.
• Serving as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
• Performing on-call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on your analysis of operational issues.
• Helping to interview, train and onboard new team members.
