Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Systems Engineer to provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain compute and storage environments and related infrastructure. The role includes hardware and software management, DR planning, and coordination with vendors on deployments.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least four years in systems engineering focusing on compute/storage systems; strong knowledge of data center operations and cloud

Qualifications

Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field; four years of experience in Systems Engineering maintaining compute and storage.
Knowledge of Data Center operations, software-defined Data Center theory; software-defined storage theory; disaster recovery and data protection operations; information security as it pertains to compute and storage environments; cloud technologies.
Ability to perform market research and product evaluation testing; troubleshoot and resolve problems in a compute and storage environment; communicate clearly, orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Installs, configures, maintains, and operates hardware and software solutions to manage compute and storage environments.
Troubleshoots and resolves problems; coordinates with vendors to resolve issues.
Serves as technical lead on projects; gathers requirements with project teams and vendors; guides solutions and tests configurations.
Maintains and operates a Data Center; manages cabinet, cabling, power configurations; handles data protection and disaster recovery.
Plans for future technology solutions; researches and tests emerging technologies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
