Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead planning, management, and execution of data center construction projects. You will maximize profitability, ensure safety and quality, and align with Layton’s objectives while delivering on-time outcomes for owners and internal teams.

The role requires steering multi-million dollar equipment orders, coordinating with OEMs, and directing a project team to meet schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or the equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of four or more years project management experience within Data Center Construction.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in directly managing a team of at least (5) individuals preparing purchase orders, processing change orders, processing submittals, tracking manufacturing production, shipping & receiving, storage and handling of Major equipment on orders exceeding $100M in the industrial, mission critical, life sciences or other large scale commercial industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project team in preparing the project management plan (PMP).
• Organizes and conducts pre-award and pre-construction meetings.
• Participates in the negotiation and preparation of project subcontracts.
• Prepares a project schedule and develops milestones necessary to successfully complete the project in concert with the project superintendent.
• Monitors the project site for cost, safety, quality, and schedule performance with the project superintendent.
• Negotiates owner and subcontractor change orders and manages the resulting cost and profit impact.
• Develops the monthly client pay requests and follows up on collection.
• Interacts with Estimating to provide project cost information for the estimating database.
