Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Center Engineering Operations Area Manager to lead on-site data center engineering operations.

You will oversee critical facilities, drive reliability, manage a multi-site portfolio, and coordinate with IT leaders to optimize safety, performance, and efficiency. The role requires deep knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments, strong people management, and the ability to deliver strategic projects on time

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people management and team development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience maintaining SLAs through proactive issue detection and reporting.
• Experience operating a mission-critical team or product.
• Knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems in data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-site shift technicians, senior technicians, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Own data center availability zone and strategic planning projects.
• Conduct financial analysis and participate in budget decisions.
• Oversee recruitment and development of staff and managers.
• Manage multiple sites and projects, set priorities, and monitor progress.
• Coordinate with IT leaders to optimize safety, performance, and reliability.
