Job summary

Meta is seeking a forward-thinking Data Center Production Operations Engineer to join the Production Operations team. You will support platform health, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and collaborate on automation and tooling projects in a large-scale data center environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in infrastructure IT, strong Linux knowledge, hands-on hardware experience, and scripting ability. This role may require up to 15% travel and an on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• BS, BA or BEng in technical field or commensurate experience.
• 5+ years of technical IT experience within an infrastructure environment.
• Intermediate-level understanding in Linux in a complex IT environment.
• Hands-on experience with server hardware and storage components.
• Knowledge of data center interdependencies including electrical, cooling, cabling, security and network.
• Experience driving to root cause and communicating findings.
• Experience scripting in Bash, Python, SQL, Go or similar.
• Knowledge of IPMI and serial console access.
• Experience using data/metrics to drive decisions.

Responsibilities

• Resolve tickets and address root cause, including remote troubleshooting and physical inspection in data halls.
• Conduct deep dives and root cause analyses of hardware, networking, and automation issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on processes, hardware and automation projects.
• Lead introductions of new platforms and hardware with partners to accelerate mass production.
• Use tooling and data to identify issues and communicate with stakeholders.
• Identify hardware corrective actions and coordinate with internal teams and vendors.
• Influence future design changes for serviceability and reliability.
• Develop scripts and tooling to resolve hardware/software issues at scale.
• Continuously improve processes, tools and systems for efficiency and quality.
• Drive server uptime and utilization through data analytics; track failure rates and SLAs.
• Mentor team members on best practices and updates to tools/processes.
• Provide engineering support to team and cross-functional groups; maintain runbooks and docs.
• Build cross-functional relationships and influence policies to improve global operations.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Travel up to 15%.
