Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) is seeking an Operating Engineer for data centers in Wilson, NC. The role focuses on CE engineering operations, preventive maintenance, and reliable site performance across cooling, electrical, and critical systems.

You will work with senior engineers to troubleshoot issues, assist with equipment installation, and maintain thorough records while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations and codes.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before small groups of tenants or fellow employees
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access and any other software packages.
• Must be able to interact professionally with tenants and contractors.
• Ability to traverse large, campus-like settings.
• Must be able to climb a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment and systems (cooling, electrical, generators, fire suppression, UPS).
• Monitor building management systems and respond to alarms promptly.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving operational issues in the data center.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Assist with installation, configuration, and testing of new equipment.
• Coordinate equipment upgrades and modifications.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and materials used.
• Generate reports on equipment status and service requests.
• Update inventory and documentation as required.
• Follow safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
